Zune FTW!

So I bought a Zune last night. So far it's pretty damn cool. I imported all my music, converted and imported the AppleSeed movie, and played around with the Zune Marketplace. As far as I can tell, those people complaining about the Zune and the software are just being Mac fanboys. I've give it 2 temp thumbs up. Only time will tell if I like it better than the ipod my wife stole from me.

HEROES!

Okay, so I started watching Heroes this season, just out of curiousity. I'm hooked. Like crack. The show is on hiatus until the middle of January, so I am jonesin hardcore for my Heroes fix, so I decided to check out the site, and what did I find? The entire season available online! WOOT! If you haven't watched this show, do yourself a favor and WATCH IT, ALL OF IT! The show RULES!

Annoyed

I think the most annoying thing about Texas so far has to be all the cellphone using drivers. I mean it's bad. 1 out of every...1 car has a driver with a cellphone surgically attached to their ear. Okay, it's not quite that bad, but it's damn close. It wouldn't be so bad under normal circumstances, but people here drive like crap! That's pretty scary to me, coming from California, where (I thought at the time) the worst drivers in the world come together to raise insurance premiums. Here though, not only are they horrible drivers (cutting across 3 lanes at 60+ mph as they get off a blind off ramp) but they drive insanely fast. It's rare here to see someone driving even 10 mph over the speed limit. Usually it's like 20+ mph. I was on a frontage road (the road next to the highway) doing 60 (in a 45) and I was being passed by damn near everyone! More than half of them were on the cellphone (with no hands free kit!) and some of them were SMOKING too! Wait, wait, wait. Cellphone (hand 1), cigarette (hand 2), dubayoo tee eff mate! How the hell are they steering?!

On a related, but tangical (is that even a word? edit: nope, it's tangential) note, Marc and I were coming back from the mall at lunch yesterday and we damn near got T-Boned by some moron in a Ford Fusion. We were driving down Plano Pkwy and the idiot starts pulling out of the gas station as we pass. He came within about 6 inches of retrofiting my right side with plastic, metal and glass. Needless to say I had to check my pants to make sure I didn't have any new suprises. Sad thing is, in the last couple of weeks, that's the 3rd time I've almost been hit by someone not paying attention.

In other news, Gears of War rocks. That is all.

Welcome to the Next Generation

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on an XBox 360. I had to, Microcenter is having a special where they give you a $100 mail in rebate when you buy a 360. The deal was too good to pass up. Plus Gears of War is out, and so is Viva Pinata (I bought it for the kids, I SWEAR!). Add in another wireless controler, a wireless network adaptor and 12 months of Live service and viola! Instant Next Generation.

Gears of War....What can I say? It's probably the prettiest game I've ever played. The environments are awesome, the sound is great and it's fun as hell. I played it for about 2 hours last night and just like everyone else, I love this game. It took me a little bit to get used to the control scheme though. I swear, I spent most of the first 30 minutes on the "Load from last Checkpoint" screen. Once I got the hang of the controls though, boy oh boy, those Locusts didn't know what hit them! I can't wait to play Co-Op.

I still haven't quite gotten a good feel for Viva Pinata. In the begining of the game so much stuff happens at once it can be a bit overwhelming. Couple that with the fact I only played the game for about 20 minutes, and you'll see why I am reserving judgement until later. But, from what I saw, it looks like fun.

DOOORRRRIIIIIIFFFFTOOOOOOOO!!!!!

So, I have a confession to make. I watched The Fast and The Furious : Tokyo Drift, and......I liked it. Quite a bit actually. No it's never going to win any awards, and it was predictable from the get go. Yes the acting was mediocre and the plot was flawed, but it was fun. The racing, although not realistic, was exciting to watch and the cars weren't NEARLY as overdone as they were in the first 2. By far the best F&F movie to date (which isn't really saying much). I got it off Netflix, and now I plan to buy it. Hows that for a positive review.

In other news, my Lakers are 5-3. They've had a few shaky games (Kobe is still not 100% and is averaging more turnovers than assists) but they still look better than they have in the last 2 years. They are winning ugly, and they are winning close games which is important. Last year, if it was ±7 points the Lakers (even if they were winning) would find a way to lose it. This year they are winning those games. It may not sound like much, but it's a hell of an improvement.
